Key Findings

This study used diffusion tensor imaging along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) index to measure glymphatic function before and after 8 weeks of daily slow diaphragmatic breathing training (6 breaths per minute, 20 minutes daily) in 56 healthy adults aged 50-70.

The breathing group showed significant improvement in DTI-ALPS index compared to controls, suggesting enhanced glymphatic clearance.
